Front Door Security for your Home

The Nooie Cam Doorbell is one of several options when it comes to keeping an eye on your front door.  When you think of camera doorbells, Ring might be the first thought, however, Nooie has developed a competitor in this industry with claims of a clear video and a long-lasting battery life that can stay charged up to 10 months at a time. Let’s take a deeper look into this product to see what it has to offer.

About the Nooie Cam Doorbell

Design

Right out of the box, the Nooie Cam Doorbell appears to be larger than your typical product of this type.  Depending on your preference, this could be a good or bad thing. Personally, it did not offend me however, if you like the smaller look of a doorbell cam, this might not be your first choice. If you are trying to find something different from the standard doorbell cam this might be a great choice for you with its beige color scheme.

Nooie Cam Doorbell Installation

Installation of this product seems to be easy regarding mounting it to a wall.  With its wi-fi connection, there is no wiring required and you should be able to do it yourself. Wall mounts and screws are provided.  They also provided an angled plate so you can choose between keeping the doorbell flush against a wall or angled for more effective viewing purposes.

Performance

Image Quality

The Nooie Cam Doorbell has a 2K resolution camera with a 158-degree field of view for larger and clearer images containing twice the pixels of the 1080P cameras.  The camera performed very well in testing providing sharp image quality and nice color during the daytime and pretty clear images with the black-and-white night vision which goes up to 49ft (15m) in the complete dark. One issue that we experienced was a lag in the video due to the wi-fi connection that caused a delay from time to time.  Nothing major but it was something we experienced.

Connectivity

The Nooie Cam Doorbell is connected through wi-fi and uses a plug-in base station that acts as a hub for communicating. This hub has a two-prong plug (for a standard electrical outlet) and a LAN port for the wi-fi connection. It also holds a microSD card for storage.

Connection is available by connecting the base station to your network using the LAN port or you can use the built-in dual-band Wi-Fi radio. Connection to the hub, in theory, is easy by pushing a pairing button for a wi-fi setup. Depending on your internet, this could be challenging.  We have what I like to refer to as “weird walls” that seem to block things out so it was a challenge to get connected.  However, we were successful.

Two-Way Communication

As with most doorbell cameras, the Nooie Cam Doorbell has a two-way audio & quick response making it easy to communicate with visitors at your door.  The pre-recorded message option is nice if for some reason, you cannot accept visitors or if you want to immediately respond with an “I’ll be there in a minute” or something similar.  There are some standard pre-recorded with the factory settings. Other features worth mentioning is there is more than one option for a ringtone and there is an alarm that will keep someone from stealing it and scare intruders away.

Motion Sensor

Another great feature of this product is the Advanced Human Detection Algorithm that uses an advanced Passive Infrared (PIR) sensor and a human detection algorithm.  This feature allows the camera to better distinguish when the moving object in front of the camera is a human or possibly something else such as an animal or a car passing by in front of your house.

Audio Quality

The audio quality is not quite as good as the image quality but it isn’t horrific. Communication is heard through the doorbell and the app and neither are high quality.

Storage and Battery

The Nooie Cam Doorbell provides two different ways to store your data.  First, you can use a MicroSD card up to 128G.  If you would prefer cloud storage, you have that option, however, it will require a subscription plan. Plans are available for 7 days, 15 days, or 30 days of storage.

The battery for this product is a 10,000 mAh rechargeable battery that is located in the back of the doorbell. It is charged with a USB-C charger. The claim from Nooie is that the charge is long-lasting and we have not had it installed long enough to truly know.  However, there are mixed reviews if you read Amazon reviews for this product when it comes to battery life.  A majority of the reviews we read did not agree with the long-lasting battery life.  You may want to do some research and decide what you think.

Pricing

The Nooie Cam Doorbell is priced at $149.99 at most retailers.

Nooie Cam Doorbell Verdict

The Nooie Cam Doorbell provides some great features and seems to stand up to most of the other brands of doorbells in most ways. The wireless feature is nice, however, it might not be a “piece of cake” to get connected.  The long-lasting battery life is nice as you do not want to be charging your battery for your doorbell all the time.  Don’t we have enough things to keep charged? The price is comparable to other doorbell cams.  The different look could be a plus/minus depending on your preferences. Overall, this doorbell is worth taking a good look at when shopping for your first (or next) doorbell cam.

Cons:
  • Setup has challenges
  • Battery Life is not always long-lasting
  • Bulkier than a typical doorbell (some people might like this)
